• UMPA Reaffilitation
  
  To maintain the Group's affiliation with UMPA, it must reaffiliate every year by March 31st.
  
  
  • Nicole Ronald raised a motion to reaffiliate with UMPA
  • The motion was passed unanimously
  • The new committee will apply to UMPA for reaffiliation by March 31st


• President's Report
  
  Nicole Ronald reported on the activities organised by the Group over the previous year:
  
  
  • Firstly thanks should be given to UMPA for supporting the CSSEPG. Without out their financial contributions, many of the following activities would not have happened.
  • Monthly afternoon teas were organised and kept going for the entire year. This included providing a range of drinks and and finger food. Special thanks to Rob for helping out with providing excellent food for postgraduate morning teas. It would be great to see more people volunteering their talents or knowledge in 2006.
  • The CSSEPG organised a pizza and beer evening in the level four staff room on July the 27nd 2005. This event aimed particularly at trying to involve the coursework students and staff in postgraduate activities. This event went really well, but then again it is difficult to imagine any event with that much beer and pizza going any other way. Special mention should be given to Ange and Fi for taking over the drinks organisation.
  • Representatives from the CSSEPG spoke at the CSSE/IS coursework welcome day Feb 2005, CSSE Research Orientation May 2005, and CSSE/IS coursework morning tea Feb 2006.
  • CSSEPG ran a end-of-semester 2 lunch on 25th October 2005. This time we branched out and ordered sushi and gourmet pizza which disappeared very quickly. Thanks to Ange for overseeing the setup, Shane and Rob for collecting pizzas, and Olivia for doing a deal with the pizza place.
  • Throughout the year the CSSEPG has been interested in supporting social activity groups. This has included support for the chess club and we now have a lovely pair of trophies for the winner and runner-up of future chess competitions.
  • The CSSEPG was also involved with the first annual poster day held in September 2005. We sponsored a "popular choice" prize which was presented alongside the Research Committee's serious prizes. Congratulations to Lars for his artistic flair. This event is something that could be expanded in the future to include more industry and school/undergraduate involvement. The possibility of a mini-conference/colloquium has also been discussed, following the model of RMIT's CS department and the IS department.
  
  Nicole Ronald raised a motion to accept the President's report. The motion was passed unanimously.


• Treasurer's Report
  
  Nicole Ronald, on behalf of Olivia March (Treasurer 2005/06), presented the financial reports for the period beginning at the previous AGM and ending at the present one:
  
  
  • The Group had a $271.92 surplus at the 2005 AGM
  • The Group expended a total of $616.32
  • The Group had a total income of $800.00
  • The Group now has an approximate surplus of $429.50. This does not take into account the cost of the AGM or Round 3 Funding from UMPA
  • A motion to accept the Treasurer's report was made by Nicole Ronald, and was passed unanimously.


• Member Feedback
  
  Nicole Ronald solicited general feedback from the attendees, as to how the CSSEPG is running, what activities could be run, what if any problems they were experiencing as postgraduates in the Dept CSSE, etc.:
  
  
  • Robert Shelton proposed the purchase of a sandwich press.
  • Tariq Mahmood proposed a skiing trip.
  • Dana Zhang proposed a boat cruise.
  • Tarig Mahmood proposed more interaction with other postgraduate groups, possibly in the form of a sporting match.
  • Patrick Ye proposed BBQs.
  • Kapil Kumar Gupta proposed a day trip - Bec Dridan proposed a day trip to a winery.
  • Gavin Baker proposed some activities to entice postgraduates to attend postgraduate seminars.
  • Patrick Ye proposed pub nights.
  
  There was no other feedback or concerns.


• Committee Election
  
  All committee positions were put up for election. The election proceeded according to the Group's Constitution, with the following results:

    • Secretary - Archana Sathivelu (nominees were Archana Sathivelu; vote was unanimous)
