Annual General Meeting

Postgraduate seminar series prize distribution
Awards were presented to Chenfeng Zhoa (Vincent) and Lipo Chan by Dr.James Bailey (Postgraduate Coordinator) for maximum attendance in the postgraduate seminars.
Dr. Bailey also presented certificates for “Commendation of Service” to the outgoing committee, Tariq Mahmood (Staff Meeting Postgraduate Representative),Amy Corman and Mohammed Alauddin Bhuiyan (Postgraduate Seminar Coordinators).

UMPA Reaffilitation

To maintain the Group's affiliation with UMPA, it must reaffiliate every year by March 31st.
- Ryan Kelly raised a motion to reaffiliate with UMPA
- The motion was passed unanimously
- The new committee will apply to UMPA for reaffiliation by March 31st, 07

President's Report

Ryan reported on the activities organised by the Group over the previous year:
- Firstly, he thanked UMPA for their support. He then gave a summary of activities CSSEPG involved in during year 2006/07.
- Monthly Afternoon teas continued as a departmental tradition. The number of coursework students attending them was on the rise, which is great.
- A pizza lunch was held on 28th July to welcome the coursework students at the beginning of Semester 2.
- End-of-Year BBQ was held on 12th December’06. It was well attended although few people got into the “traditional” theme.
- CSSEPG also sponsored prizes for events like LiveCoda (a programming competition arranged by Rob) and a chess competition. The chess competition is still ongoing. In the future, CSSEPG will plan to allocate more funding for such events.
- CSSEPG members played a significant role in arranging the Open Day.
- There was discussion on holding a day-trip. Unfortunately the interest and the funds were limited. So, the idea has been shelved for future.
The motion to accept the President’s report was raised by Ryan and it was passed unanimously.

Treasurer's Report

Ryan presented the report on behalf of Alauddin Bhuiyan (Treasurer 2006/07):
- The Group had a surplus of $265.83 at the beginning of AGM’06
- The total expenditure was $809.16 (excluding expenditure for AGM’07)
- The total income was $1266.23
- The Group now has a surplus of $302.32 (excluding Round 3 funding from UMPA)
- Ryan raised a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report and the motion was passed unanimously.

Member Feedback

Ryan Kelly welcomed comments/ suggestions from the attendees as to how CSSEPG can serve the postgraduates in a better way:
- The prospect of having a day trip was discussed again.
- Tariq Mahmood (Staff Meeting Postgraduate Representative) welcomed comments/ issues from the postgraduates to be discussed in the staff meeting.
- There was no other feedback or concerns.

Committee Election

The committee has to be elected on a yearly basis. The elections for all positions were held according to the constitution. The newly elected committee includes::
- Executive Committee Members 2007/08
  - President - Mohammed Jubaer Arif (nominees were Mohammed Jubaer Arif; Elected unanimously)
  - Treasurer - Golriz Rezaei (nominees were Golriz Rezaei ; Elected unanimously)
  - Secretary - Li Hua (Roger) (nominees were Li Hua (Roger); Elected unanimously)
- Non-executive Committee Members 2007/08
  (postgraduate representatives) - (three nominees; votes were unanimous)
  - Juan Li (Christie)
  - Xiao Lei Qu (Samuel)
  - Marco Netto
